Vancouver's forecast this week has a bit of Jekyll and Hyde personality.
For the first few days it'll be stable, with sunshine, some fog, and average temperatures for this time of year.
And then it looks like it'll become Raincouver.
From Sunday, Dec. 1 to Wednesday, Dec. 4 a ridge of high pressure will keep the Metro Vancouver region relatively clear of clouds (though there may be morning fog). Daytime highs of 6 C and lows of 1 C are expected, meteorologist Gary Lee from Environment Canada tells V.I.A.
"The reason we're staying really stable is because there's a blocking pattern over the international dateline," Lee explains.
However, that pattern is expected to break down sometime on Thursday, with a trough of low pressure making things "wonky."
Computer models show unsettled weather, with heavier clouds and precipitation, arriving Thursday, but whether that means massive rain is "quite uncertain," Lee says.
Forecast for Taylor Swift concerts
It appears the unstable weather will last through the weekend as Taylor Swift's Eras Tour plays its last three shows at BC Place Dec. 6, 7, and 8.
"According to the current computer thinking Sunday might be a little better, but right now the uncertainties are too great after Thursday," he says.
Temperatures may warm up for the three days; Environment Canada's website shows highs of 8 C and lows of 5 C on Friday, Dec. 6.
The uncertainty is due to the Pacific Ocean being a big place with few weather stations.
"Basically, it's a huge date void," Lee explains. "There isn't a lot to tell across the Pacific."
Currently, Weatherhood is predicting a forecast of showers and rain for the weekend.
At the Yaletown station (the closest to BC Place) Friday, Dec. 6 is expected to see highs up to 12 C on Saturday, Dec. 7 with daily rain totals of more than 30 mm.
