It's been just over a week since Kan Man Wong got some of the best news of his life.
The Vancouver man had bought a ticket for the April 24 draw of the Daily Grand; in the draw he matched five of the five numbers, winning the second place prize, $25,000 per year for life (as determined by the BC Lottery Corporation) or $500,000.
When he scanned his ticket and saw the big win it seemed unbelievable.
"I thought it was a mistake, maybe a scam," Wong says in a press release.
When he told his wife she was shocked, with "mixed reactions" to the windfall.
The Wongs are taking the $500,000, which they'll put towards their mortgage, and then travel.
"I'm breathing easier," says Wong of his big win.
He bought his ticket at the Chevron convenience store at West 67th Avenue and Oak Street in Marpole.
