An SUV hit a 68-year-old Vancouver woman while she was crossing Cambie Street at West 57th Avenue on Dec. 7, 2024.

Police are looking for witnesses after the driver of an SUV hit a pedestrian with their vehicle in South Vancouver.

The incident happened Dec. 7, 2024, around 8:30 a.m.

The pedestrian, a 68-year-old woman, was crossing Cambie Street at the intersection with West 57 Avenue and was struck by a black GMC Sierra.

The woman was left with "life-altering injuries" according to the VPD.

She was taken to the hospital. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene.

“This collision occurred during a busy time of day [when] there would be a lot pedestrian and vehicle traffic,” said Const. Tania Visintin in a police press release.

Neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors in the collision, according to police.

“We are asking witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to get in touch with investigators as quickly as possible,” says Visintin
