A Vancouver man has been charged with assault after he allegedly shoved a senior who refused to buy him a pack of smokes.
Officers with the Vancouver Police Department arrested the 31-year-old suspect the afternoon of Saturday, Feb. 6 outside a convenience store near Pacific Boulevard and Davie Street.
According to the VPD, the 71-year-old Yaletown resident was heading to the corner store to buy some lotto tickets when a man asked him to buy cigarettes.
When the senior refused, the suspect allegedly followed him into the store and shoved him against a display case. This action caused the senior to fall to the ground and cut his elbow.
VPD officers were close by and arrested the suspect before he left the area. He has been charged with assault.
