Last weekend a pedestrian called police to report that a man was walking around the Downtown Eastside with an uncapped needle and trying to poke people with it.
The call came in just after noon on March 6 and police responded quickly. According to a VPD release, officers found the man running into traffic with the uncapped needle still in his hand. He would not follow the officers’ directions and a struggle ensued. The needle dropped out of his hand, but the man continued to resist, trying to grab the needle again.
Officers used a taser, and the man was safely taken into custody.
No one was injured. The suspect also had outstanding warrants.
