Canada's largest road race takes place on Sunday, April 27, on the streets of Vancouver.
The Vancouver Sun Run sees thousands of participants join in the annual fundraiser for several races, including a 10 km Individual Sun Run, 10 km Team Division, 10 km Walking Division, 2.5 km and 10 km SunRype Youth Team Challenge, and the 2.5 km Eva Air Mini Sun Run. There are also 2.5 and 10 km virtual Sun Runs.
While it isn't a charity event, the Sun Run has donated over $3 million to various causes since 1985.
Numerous road closures will be in effect through the morning and into the early afternoon during the event, including a multi-hour closure of the Burrard Bridge.

What route does the 10 km Sun Run follow?
Participants will run through Vancouver's downtown core starting at Burrard and Georgia and then head north down Denman Street.
The race continues through "Vancouver’s West End to the English Bay waterfront and then heads east along Beach and Pacific Avenue with scenic views of the waterfront. The runners then head south across the Burrard Street Bridge and pass along South False Creek and Mount Pleasant neighbourhoods. The runners head past Science World and finish outside the iconic BC Place Stadium." (See slide two for map.)
Where is the Sun Run start line? How will I get to the start line?
The start area is located on Georgia Street, from Seymour to Bute streets.
Organizers advise taking transit to get to and from the race. The SkyTrain is the best option to get into Downtown Vancouver, and the Burrard and Granville stations are located closest to the starting point.
Those planning to take transit to the run should check TransLink's Trip Planner for its most up-to-date information/schedules closer to the event day.
People who drive to the event should park near the finish area at BC Place Stadium. There is some free street parking and several pay parking lots.
Provide plenty of time to reach the start line if you are participating in the race.
What is the Mini Sun Run?
The Eva Air Mini Sun Run is a 2.5 km run for people with families or runners who prefer a shorter route. It is recommended that adults accompany children eight and under.
The mini run kicks off at 777 Pacific Blvd. outside of BC Place Stadium at 8 a.m. (an hour before the big race).
Race package pickup
Participants can pick up their race packages for the 10 km category on Friday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., or on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 pm., at the Sun Run Expo at Vancouver Convention Centre East (999 Canada Place).
People running with teams should see their Team Captains for the race packages.
