Vancouver teen left with 'serious and life-altering injuries' after being hit by vehicle

Police are looking for witnesses to the incident, which involved a grey Mercedes.

A 15-year-old student is in hospital with "serious and life-altering injuries" after being struck by a car. The VPD is looking for witnesses.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is looking for witnesses to a collision that sent a local teenager to hospital with serious injuries.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, when the 15-year-old student was crossing West 16th Avenue near Lord Byng Secondary School and Wallace Street.

"She sustained serious and life-altering injuries, and was rushed to hospital, where she remains undergoing treatment," states the VPD in a press release.

The driver of the vehicle, a grey Mercedes, remained on the scene after the accident. Police have not shared the model of the vehicle.

Police are now looking for witnesses to the incident to contact the collision investigation unit. Other members of the VPD are providing support to staff and students.
