The City of Vancouver will once again host a virtual Remembrance Day ceremony this upcoming Nov. 11.
The news comes despite the BC Centre for Disease Control’s looser restrictions on public outdoor gatherings compared to last year. Only official wreaths will be placed by a limited number of dignitaries invited to attend in person, a spokesperson for the City of Vancouver wrote in an emailed statement to Vancouver Is Awesome.
“Recognized wreaths will be placed ahead of the ceremony start by the Vancouver Poppy Fund,” the statement reads. “This is in order to protect the elderly and health compromised individuals participating in the commemoration ceremony.”
A livestream link will be available to the public before the event begins and further details like the event’s itinerary will be provided on Nov. 9 via a city information bulletin and through the city’s website.
