Drivers should expect delays on the Cambie Bridge due to planned work.
The City of Vancouver will implement alternating lane closures with a minimum of one lane open in each direction at all times on Tuesday, Nov. 5 and Wednesday. Pedestrians and cyclists should also watch for detours.
According to the advisory, "bike and pedestrian lanes on the bridge may close one side at a time, detouring all users to the existing bike and pedestrian lane on the opposite side."
Commuters should plan and "expect delays," and consider taking an alternate route or using transit.
Cambie Bridge work to continue through spring 2025
The planned work is part of a project starting this fall to repair the joints on the bridge deck. The work will continue until spring 2025 and locals should expect "traffic impacts, reduced speeds, and detours for pedestrians and cyclists," the city says.
The work will occur Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with extended hours as needed (including on weekends).
The city notes that the nature of the work may cause some noise. However, crews will work to minimize the impacts.
