Traffic advisory: Road closure in busy Vancouver area for project

The upgrades will continue through the spring of 2025.

Drivers should prepare for a large road closure in Vancouver's Dunbar-Southlands neighbourhood this weekend.

The City of Vancouver will close West King Edward Avenue in both directions between Granville and Macdonald streets for repaving work on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The city recently completed its water main and sewer main upgrades as part of its West King Edward project. Now, it is focusing on "road widening, paving, and green rainwater infrastructure installation," which will be completed by the end of the year (see slide two for the project map).

The upgrades commenced in 2022 and will continue through the spring of 2025.

Commuters can still access buses along King Edward but some stops may temporarily be relocated.

Visit TransLink's Alerts page for more information about any bus stop detours.
