'Didn’t recognize the officer': Driver claims they didn't know they were in 'bus only' lane twice in one day

"Ooooh, that's a classic one. I bet their dog ate their homework also."

A Vancouver driver tried to take the VPD for a ride by saying they didn't know they were travelling in a bus-only lane twice in the same day.

A driver tried to pull a fast one on a Vancouver police officer after he was caught driving in the bus lane for the second time in one day.

The bold driver told the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) officer that they did not know they were travelling in a "bus-only lane" the first time they were pulled over.

But according to a tweet from the VPD Traffic Section, the driver tried to tell the same officer that they didn't know they were travelling in "bus-only lane" when they were pulled over a mere four hours later.

"The driver didn’t recognize the officer and even gave the same excuse for their driving behaviour," remarked the VPD in its post.

The VPD shared images of the violation tickets in its Twitter post, which show that the driver had been travelling in bus lanes in the 3800 block of Granville Street and the 1300 block of West Georgia Street.

In one of the comments below the post, Metro Vancouverite Xylin Hawkins writes: "Ooooh, that's a classic one. I bet their dog ate their homework also."

While many drivers are pulled over for excessive speeding or distracted driving, other people get nabbed for parking in inappropriate or downright ridiculous places.

Recently, the VPD shared an image of a driver who was fined for parking their vehicle in the middle of nowhere in Stanley Park.
