Canada Post has announced that it is temporarily suspending its mail delivery to several Metro Vancouver communities due to inclement weather.
The mail company issued a red service alert on Wednesday (Nov. 30) for parts of British Columbia, which means that it has suspended delivery for the day and will not send its delivery agents out or recall them.
According to the alert, there will be no delivery to the following areas in the Lower Mainland:
- Abbotsford
- Maple Ridge
- Chilliwack
- City of Vancouver
- Burnaby
- South Vancouver
Delivery will resume once conditions improve and it is safe to do so.
"The safety of our employees is our number one priority," the company stated in a tweet.
To ensure safe access to their front doors for mail carriers, Canada Post encourages people to clear snow and ice from their walkways, stairs, and driveways.
