Trick-or-treaters and their guardians who are hoping to stay dry on Halloween might be in luck this year.
Environment Canada has updated its forecast for Monday, Oct. 31, to include some showers in the morning followed by cloudy but dry skies in the afternoon and evening. Specifically, the forecast includes a 40 per cent chance of showers before transitioning to a "mix of sun and cloud this afternoon."
Halloween night is expected to be partly cloudy with an overnight low of 5 C.
Heading into the rest of the week, Tuesday and Wednesday's forecasts don't include any rain, with a mix of sun and cloud on both days. While Tuesday night is expected to be cloudy with a low of 6 C, Wednesday is expected to see clear skies overnight with a chilly low of 3 C.
Since the skies are expected to clear Wednesday, locals may have the opportunity to view the northern lights. Keep in mind, however, that the aurora might not appear a vibrant green to your naked eye. Instead, you might observe a greyish formation in the sky.

The dry days aren't expected to continue past Wednesday, however. Environment Canada calls for rain to return to the city on Thursday and to continue through the rest of the week.
Metro Vancouver weather forecast
In a recent update, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) called for a 75 per cent chance that La Niña will be present this winter and won't change to a "neutral" weather pattern until about February.
La Niña's impact on southern B.C. doesn't start to show until the late fall or early winter. But it does tend to produce cooler than normal conditions and snowier conditions over the mountains.
