A 27-year-old Vancouver woman has been charged after allegedly stabbing a woman in the leg with a hypodermic needle earlier this week.
On Tuesday, March 8 police were called to Main and East Pender streets after a 41-year-old woman reported being stabbed in the leg by a stranger with a needle.
“It appears there was no prior interaction between the victim and the suspect, and the assault was completely unprovoked,” says Sgt. Steve Addison in a press release. “The victim did the right thing by calling VPD right away and keeping an eye on the suspect until officers arrived moments later.”
Kayla Elizabeth Kelly, 27, was arrested and now faces a charge of assault with a weapon.
Police note it's not related to a similar incident that occurred last year nearby. A different woman was charged in that case.
