The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation expects to open the city's outdoor pools with limited capacity for May 22, but what that'll look like is still being determined.
Staff are preparing for those outdoor pools to fully reopen sometime this summer, according to a memo from the general manager's office, but things will start off slow.
"We will start with following the same COVID-19 protocols as last year, with the hope that as restrictions ease throughout the summer, outdoor pool capacities may be increased under a phased approach," states the memo.
Programs at the outdoor pools are still in development.
Operations at City of Vancouver beaches will follow a similar plan.
The City of Vancouver operates four outdoor pools: Kitsilano, New Brighton, Second Beach, and Maple Grove.
In 2020, the city delayed opening pools until July due to the pandemic.
