A Richmond driver posted a dashcam video on the Chinese social app Little Red Book yesterday which shows a pedestrian nearly being hit by a car while jaywalking.
In the dashcam video titled “Richmond road killer,” the driver was driving along Westminster Highway and approaching the intersection at No.3 Road.
A pedestrian darted across the intersection just as the driver was passing through on a green light. The car came to an abrupt stop.
Many people commented on the video criticizing the pedestrian and shared similar experiences in Richmond and some other cities.
“I hate this kind of road runners. They should stop when the pedestrian light starts flashing,” reads one of the comments.
Some said the driver should have foreseen this given that the cars on the other lanes didn’t move even after the light turned green, while others said it’s too much to ask from a driver and people should just follow the rules.
