A viral video on TikTok shows a U-Haul truck next to a smashed display window of a Cartier store on Burrard Street in Downtown Vancouver. The video's caption alleges that someone tried to rob the luxury jewelry store. Vancouver police cleared up what actually happened.

A video making rounds on social media shows a startling scene in Downtown Vancouver.

The short clip, originally posted to TikTok, shows a U-Haul truck next to a broken store window. The shattered window display is that of luxury jewellery store Cartier, located on Burrard Street.

The TikTok video is captioned: "Good morning to whoever tried to rob Cartier with a U-Haul truck," but the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) clarified that this is not what happened.

The VPD tells V.I.A. that just before 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday (Sept. 27) multiple people called 911 to report the driver of a U-Haul had crashed into the store.

"Two men in black hoodies were then seen running west on Alberni," says the VPD in an email. "It doesn't appear any items were taken from the store."

No arrests have been made and the incident is being investigated, the VPD notes.
