Vancouver police have re-opened traffic on part of Clark Drive after investigating a "serious" collision involving a cyclist early Wednesday, July 10.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, at 8:15 a.m. that it had closed off Clark Drive between East Broadway and East 12th Avenue to traffic due to the collision.
The VPD was "occupying both directions as needed for investigative purposes." It shared an update just before 10 a.m. noting it had reopened streets to traffic.
Police say a 53-year-old woman was riding her "bike west on East 10th Avenue at Clarke Drive just before 6 a.m. when she was struck by the driver of a red Honda Fit in the intersection."
The driver of the Honda stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police for the investigation.
The cyclist was sent to hospital with serious injuries and police are asking anyone with information to call the VPD.
Police had asked the public to avoid the area until further notice but now say the area is clear.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone with dash-cam footage, is asked to call VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
