BC Prosecution Service has approved charges against a woman for impaired driving after she was caught allegedly driving impaired from a court appearance in North Vancouver.
The woman, 57, was suspected of driving impaired from her appearance in court on an impaired driving charge on March 29, 2019. However, North Vancouver RCMP officers responded quickly and were able to intercept the woman as she arrived at her North Vancouver residence.
RCMP conducted an impaired driving investigation, and as a result BC Prosecution Service approved new charges against the woman. She now faces a criminal charge of Impaired Driving in addition to sanctions under the Motor Vehicle Act.
"In an era of increased public awareness of the dangers of impaired driving, it’s shocking that someone would make the decision to drive from court impaired by alcohol," said Corporal Jamie Raison, North Vancouver RCMP Traffic Services.
"The North Van RCMP are committed to keeping the streets safe for our community, and this is a good example of how the community helps us enforce alcohol related driving offences."
The alleged offender will be back in court on September 11.
