Police investigating homicide in Halifax area

HALIFAX — Halifax police have identified a 37-year-old man who was shot dead in Dartmouth Monday night. In a news release, the police say the victim was 37-year-old Cortrell Thomas.

HALIFAX — Halifax police have identified a 37-year-old man who was shot dead in Dartmouth Monday night.

In a news release, the police say the victim was 37-year-old Cortrell Thomas.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots on Ancona Place at around 9 p.m. Monday and found a man who had been shot outside a residence.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Nova Scotia medical examiner conducted an autopsy and confirmed his death was a homicide, and police say they do not believe the shooting was random.

Investigators are searching for two suspects who were seen leaving the scene of the shooting through a nearby park and are asking that anyone with video footage from the area to contact them.
