Poll: Vancouverites want to see Vice President Kamala Harris win U.S. election

If the election somehow relied on Vancouver, VP Harris would have a clear win

Vancouver residents would prefer Vice President Kamala Harris win the Nov. 5, 2024 election by a rate of 3-to-1 over former President Donald Trump.

Vancouver residents would very much like Vice President Kamala Harris to win the 2024 U.S. election.

If the election were held just in Vancouver, Harris would have a massive win, with more than 75 per cent of the vote. While locals won't get to vote in the Nov. 5 election (except for American expats), the results will affect Vancouver in a variety of ways.

In previous polls, which included the option for "neither," Harris received around 68 per cent of the vote in the summer and 71 per cent in September.

V.I.A. readers, which includes people not located in the city, matched with the local vote (even though there were more than double the votes from outside the city).

With no "neither" option both candidates saw an increase; Harris saw an increase of about eight per cent, while Trump saw an increase of about six per cent over the prior polls.

While the winner would be clear in Vancouver, in the U.S., polls show the race is still close. Locally, the BC Lottery Corporation noted in a press release its online betting system PlayNow currently gives Trump slightly favourable odds.

V.I.A. polled 1,391 readers and asked the question: Who would you prefer to see become president of the U.S.A.?

The poll ran from 10/27/2024 to 11/3/2024. Of the 1391 votes, we can determine that 571 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

Vice President Kamala Harris 78.11% local, 77.79% total
Former President Donald Trump 21.89% local, 22.14% total
