Charming 80-year-old Burnaby home with lush garden, big lot sells for $1.85M

With a solarium, a plethora of ‘lovingly landscaped’ trees (kiwi, apple, pear, plum, fig, sour cherry, red currant and more), and two workshops for artists and hobbyists, this home is a haven for gardeners.

A gardener’s paradise of a home in Burnaby’s South Slope neighbourhood has sold for $1.85 million.

The unique character home at 4554 Sunland Pl., “nestled at the end of the cul-de-sac,” is 80 years old and incorporates some stunning features that would delight anyone with a green thumb.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom, 3,100 square-foot home has a solarium and patio area. An indoor workshop area connects to an outdoor workshop. The home sits on a 11,620 sq. ft lot.

The listing on Zealty.ca notes the home’s “lovingly landscaped” grounds have a variety of trees and bushes including: kiwi, apple, pear, plum, fig, sour cherry, peach, walnut, red currant, raspberry, blueberries, as well as mature roses and florals. Raised vegetable planters also feature in the yard.

The home sold on April 25 after a week on the market. Its 2023 assessed value is just over $2 million.

The South Slope area saw 10 detached homes sell in April, according to statistics by Zealty, with a median sold price of $1.77 million. It’s up from just one detached home sold in March, with a median price of about $1.67 million, and four in February, with a median of $1.66 million.
