The site of East Vancouver’s iconic Dairy Queen Brazier may soon be redeveloped into a rental apartments.
The Dairy Queen at East Hastings and Lakewood Drive, built in 1969, is known for its original Brazier signage – however, it may soon be demolished for construction of a six-storey rental building, Urban YVR reports.
Developer Mosaic Homes and Yamamoto Architecture proposed a redbrick structure with 42 secured market rentals units at 2109 East Hastings Street. The site sold last year for $5.45 million.
The mixed-use structure also includes three ground level retail units, one of which is slated for a 2,690-square-foot restaurant space.
The first open house on the development will take place Nov. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Aboriginal Friendship Centre at 1607 East Hastings Street.
