Built before World War 1, this Shaughnessy home looks like a museum in perfect condition as much as a house to live in.
Located at 1469 Matthews Ave., the house has the look of a luxury mountain cabin from the outside, but inside it is a much more of an ornate home. Nearly every room in the $14.69 million property has a chandelier, there are plenty of hardwood floors (and walls), and the furniture looks like it's from a French estate, rather than a Vancouver neighbourhood.
While it looks significantly old (partly because it was originally built in 1912), real estate agent Jonathan Lu notes there have been several renovations, including taking it down to the studs, a new foundation, a new basement, and other work.
Along with all of the heritage feel to the home, there are some modern luxuries, like a home theatre, a six-car garage (which is bigger than many apartments, at 1,245 square feet) and a Jacuzzi bath.
In total there are six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, along with some less common rooms, like a solarium, eating area (different from the dining room), wine cellar and second powder room. The master bedroom has two en suite washrooms, and its walk-in closet even has its own walk-in closet.
