The Association of Mineral Exploration of BC is again on the hunt for a new president and CEO, following the departure of Keerit Jutla, a year and half after his appointment as CEO.
“Keerit has been a strong advocate and a great source of energy for our association,” AME chairperson Trish Jacques said in a news release announcing Jutla’s departure.
“His efforts have revitalized and renewed the voice of exploration and we are grateful to have had his leadership during this time of much change in our industry.”
In a message to BIV, Jutla said he was leaving the AME because he is moving to Vancouver Island, where his wife has family, to start their own family.
Jutla was named president and CEO of the AME in August 2023, following the departure of former CEO Kendra Johnston.
The AME noted Jutla's strong advocay for the B.C. exploration sector on a number of key issues, such as reforms to the Mineral Tenure Act.
“We recognize that life brings new opportunities, and we wish Keerit much health, happiness and success in pursuing his personal and professional goals,” Jacques said. “We have no doubt he will continue to make major contributions to the public good, and Canada’s economic well-being, in whatever roles he holds.”
The AME said in its release that a search for a new president will begin the near future.
