REGINA — Police in Regina have charged two teenage boys with second-degree murder after a man was killed on Boxing Day.

Police say officers responded to a report of a seriously injured man near downtown and despite the efforts of first responders, he died at the scene from what are believed to be stab wounds.

The man has been identified as 30-year-old Charles Russell Thompson.

Police say an investigation led to the arrest of two 15-year-old boys who have both been charged with second-degree murder.

Both teens, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have also been charged with failing to comply with previous court orders and one of them was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

The youth are scheduled to make their first court appearance in Regina on Monday.
