No, no no, your kids will not be throwing axes with painted faces, but you certainly can!
Construction Cares is a fun-filled indoor fair for adults and children of all ages happening Sunday, June 9th, 2019 from 11:00am to 4:00pm at The Pipe Shop in North Vancouver.
Despite being a fundraiser, admission for the event is totally free, courtesy of Naikoon Contracting Ltd.
Activity tickets can be purchased on-site to participate in games and fun activities, including a kids Construction & Decorating Station, Top Shot Hockey game, face painting, GardenWorks gardening station, LifeSpace Gardens Veggie Mobile, balloon twisting, caricature drawings; and roaming characters including your kids favourites Elsa, Olaf and Spiderman. There will be free colouring and block building station for kids, an SPCA table, live auctions and 50-50 draws every hour.
The annual event features a slew of other awesome activities for parents and their kids to enjoy throughout the day, all in the spirit of raising funds and awareness for The MPS II Research Fund at The Isaac Foundation.
MPS II, also known as Hunter syndrome, is a rare and debilitating genetic disorder that impacts children. Patients suffering from Hunter Syndrome lack an enzyme in their blood that breaks down cellular waste in the body, causing painful physical symptoms for those living with the condition.
Fortunately, there are promising gene therapy projects underway that are showing significant and promising results in the lab setting. It is hoped that these treatments will enter the clinical trial stage soon, which is what this event hopes to raise funds for.
In addition to helping to raise funds for a cure, you can also enjoy Axe Throwing courtesy of Axewood, Sumo Wrestlingand a beer tasting station courtesy of North Shore craft brewery Beere Brewing. Hey, parents deserve to have some fun too!
Event is rain or shine and offers bike valet by donation.
