Would you ride the Colossal Canyon?
At 75 feet is the highest.
At 830 feet long it is the longest.
At 14.6 feet wide it is the widest.
A family-friendly river raft that speeds through the edge of an existing forest trees at top speeds of 40 km an hour is of course, no small feat, especially for the team behind its design.
“In Cultus Lake we have to be very aware of our surroundings; the trees the waterways and the view of the natural valley scenery”, explains Chris Steunenberg, owner and operator of Cultus Lake Waterpark and Adventure Park.
“The design process was a very gruelling and tedious process to wind this new massive river around the trees at an elevation of 75 feet, but the response was off the charts and a huge success and to this day our number one attraction in the park.”
Colossal Canyon’s rafts are designed for up to five riders, offering numerous handles both on the rim and the floor of the raft so that the smaller people in your group can grab a hold and have fun. Little kids can ride with parents, but must be at least 48 inches tall to ride alone. One of the best aspects of the design is the high-speed conveyor system that brings rafts back to the top of the tower, which means no heavy lifting for the park’s guests.
Now a fan favourite, Colossal Canyon was the result of a annual review process that was initiated to keep things fresh and up-to-date for fans of the park. This year, Cultus has revamped their family water play zone adding a giant Sandcastle and Kiddie slides set in a very shallow wading pool with spraying features.
The park has also introduced state-of-the-art 20 station spray park and a nearby family hot tub, so parents can sit comfortably and keep an on eye on their kids on cooler days. In addition to water attractions, the park also hosts multiple food vendors and picnic tables.
This season, Cultus is offering a coupon on the back of every ticket, offering all day ride passes at the neighbouring Adventure Park for $15. Another opportunity to enjoy the rides, attractions and fun that Cultus Lake has been cultivating since 1984.
“I probably have the most fun job in the world and that is creating an adventure water park environment, for my customers/families in the Fraser valley and province of B.C.”
