If you’re interested in employment opportunities in residential construction and home renovation and are looking to fast track your career path, the Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) is hosting a Virtual Career Expo from November 1 to 5, and you’re invited!
During HAVAN's online career fair event, which opens up on November 1 at 11 a.m., you can explore various career options through attending live panel discussions, visiting exhibitor's booths, and more.
From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the first day of the career expo, event attendees will get to hear from women working in the industry, including Red Seal apprentice electrician, energy advisor, project managers, heavy equipment operator, and other industry trailblazers, who are passionate about building homes and shaping communities where people want to live.
During these sessions, the speakers will share stories about how they got started in their careers, what a typical day on the job is like, insights into salary and benefits, work/life balance, and their experiences as a woman in the trades.
As you’ll hear from the expo’s speakers, there are many pathways into home building and renovation, including college and university degree programs, Red Seal certification, traineeships and apprenticeships, and learning on the job, making entering the field more accessible than ever before.
Employing over 110,000 workers and contributing over $7 billion towards wages, residential home construction in the Metro Vancouver Region is realized as an essential service, and with full pay equity in a recession proof industry, it’s one of the top employment paths in terms of job security.
