With Fashion Week events taking place in New York, London, Paris and Milan, September is truly the best time of year for those who love fashion.
This September is particularly exciting for local fashion obsessives as Delta will welcome back legendary Filipino design icon, the one and only Renee Magtibay Salud, for an incredible evening of career-defining fashion at Tsawwassen Mills.
The event, titled Mindanao Tapestry II is the sequel of the highly successful Mindanao Tapestry fashion show, which has been presented all over the world. This year’s staging in Vancouver will feature the glamorous creations of Renee Salud, textiles crafted by the Philippines' renowned Mindanao weavers, and a plethora of the country’s top models and beauty queens, including Jasmine Maierhofer, Hannah Arnold, Rina Maier, Daniel James, Elaine Kay Moll and former Miss Universe runner-up, Katrina Llegado.
Depicting the stories of the diverse tribes that have made Mindanao the “Land of the Promise”, Salud’s groundbreaking career has earned them the title of Philippines' premier designer. With over 40 years of experience in the fashion industry, Salud’s latest collection celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines through a thrilling display of formal wear. At 77 years old, the clothing at Mindanao Tapestry II will showcase that Salud isn’t still going strong, they’re at the peak of their powers.
This year’s staging of Mindanao Tapestry is proudly directed by the incredibly talented, Cata Figueroa Jr. and will be presented in partnership with four trailblazers in the Filipino-Canadian community in B.C. They include:
- Celebrated wedding and lifestyle photographers, William and Vanessa Orsua (Soul Mate Productions)
- Host, producer, director, stylist and multi-media personality, BABES NEWLAND / Socorro MissB-Newland (The Miss B Project)
- Model/skin care expert and finishing school proprietor, MARY SEITZ / Mary O Sei (Beach Grove Laser Clinic & My Confidence Academy), and
- Canadian gospel and R&B singer, two-time Juno Award nominee and eight-time GMA Covenant award winner, Warren D Flandez (Studio Cloud 30).
