Every year locals flock to the Fraser Valley to get their fill of fall-related fun, but with the holidays just around the corner (and hockey season well underway), there’s a whole new list of reasons to visit.
That’s why this winter we’re not going just anywhere, we’re headed straight to the Township of Langley.
Here you’ll find everything from authentic farm experiences, to beautiful parks and trails, trendy restaurants, amazing beer, and some of the best sports in town. So come for a Christmas tree and stay for a Giants game – there’s so much to see and do this winter in the Township of Langley.
Here’s what we’re looking forward to most:
Heading to the rink
The Vancouver Giants are a major junior ice hockey team playing in the Western Hockey League (WHL) and are by far, the most fun and affordable way to enjoy hockey in Vancouver.
As part of the WHL, the Vancouver Giants offer top prospects in Western Canada and the U.S. the opportunity to hone their skills while giving hockey fans the opportunity to cheer on young talent before they become international stars.
Don’t let the NHL purists fool you – Giants games are packed with everything you love about hockey; thrilling goals, hard-checking, and game-on-the-line moments you’ll remember forever. Best of all, you get to experience this all starting at around $25 a ticket.
But going to a Giants game is about more than what’s happening on the ice, it’s about what’s happening in the stands. Here you can expect a family-friendly atmosphere highlighted by cowbells, homemade signs, jerseys, and good-natured sports fans brought together by their shared love of the game.
This winter the Giants aren’t the only other hockey going in the Township of Langley. In fact, three Canadian rosters will compete at the 2022 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge from November 3 - 12 in both Langley and Delta, B.C. The tournament, which returns for the first time since 2019, will feature three Canadian teams matching up against Czechia, Finland, Sweden, and the United States. Picking the perfect tree
Known for its opulent orchards, and u-pick pumpkin patches, the Township of Langley is also home to some of the best tree farms in the province.
Whether you want a robust pine or more of a Charlie Brown-style twig, the Township of Langley has fresh u-cut, or pre-cut Christmas trees for any seasonal style. What has become the most anticipated holiday event of the season is returning bigger and brighter than ever.
Spanning 20 full acres, Glow Langley offers guests the chance to experience a family-friendly outdoor Christmas festival with towering light gardens and magical landscapes all under the magic of more than ONE MILLION holiday lights. Attractions include a kids scavenger hunt, food trucks, a holiday train ride, pictures with Santa, a meet and greet with princesses, and a warmed tent space with live performances and holiday beverages.
Shopping local
The perfect way to check every name off your holiday shopping list, iMADE is a curated event where independent local small brands, both new and emerging, can come together to share their products and creations with the public. Returning this year to Fort Langley at the Fort Langley Community Hall, iMade will feature crafts, art, food, small shops, and artisan makers. Supporting and shopping locally is more important now than ever, so head to Fort Langley for the shopping event of the season. Admission is FREE.
