Yoga is not about how flexible or strong you are.
Yoga is about intention and attention. It’s about dedicating time to yourself in an effort to better your relationship with your mind and body. It’s about showing yourself what you’re capable of and of course, it’s about having fun.
We’ve seen a lot of high-end yoga brands come and go over the past few years, many of which built their brand on feeling more like an exclusive club rather than a space dedicated to feeling your best, but yoga isn’t for a select few, it’s for everybody.
And that’s the inspiration for Vancouver’s newest studio, Vancity Yoga.
Located at 255 E Pender in East Vancouver, Vancity Yoga has made it their mission to be the most welcoming studio in Vancouver, offering yoga enthusiasts and yoga-curious alike an incredible space free of attitude, judgment, and expectations.
Home to two practice rooms, each hosting a variety of yoga styles, including Hot Hatha, Vinyasa, Power Flow, 26+2 Hot yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Deep Stretch & Relaxation, and even unheated Candlelit Yin Yoga classes, Vancity Yoga was specially designed for yoga practitioners of all levels. They offer both hot yoga and room temperature practices and their space is absolutely next level – every single piece of the studio was hand-picked, right down to every door handle, towel hook, and shower head (and it shows).
It’s beautiful inside and out – Vancity Yoga’s Hot Room was also custom-built with 3 different sources of heat, including infrared yoga panels, water-based baseboard heating, and heat sourced from a unique Heat Recovery Ventilation unit.
What really sets Vancity Yoga apart, however, isn’t their high-end finishes or state-of-the-art heating system, it’s that the owners created this space with the sole intention of having the “nicest staff and nicest vibe” in all of Vancouver. The result is a space that’s welcoming for all people, regardless of who they are, what they look like or their level of experience. Fortunately, it seems to be working; a quick glance at their Google Reviews reveals 5-stars and more than a few mentions of how warm, welcoming, beautiful and non-intimidating the space really is.
If you want to refine your practice or try yoga for the very first time in a space free of judgment or attitude, this is the place for you!
