Part of what makes Vancouver, ahem, awesome is its transit system. Yup, I said it.
Think of going downtown without the SkyTrain System. Think of getting to UBC without the 99 B-Line. How would the trip to Lonsdale Quay be without the SeaBus?
Transit has played a key role in defining moments in our region’s history. What would Expo ’86 have been without the futuristic driverless elevated train? And think about how our transit system moved thousands of athletes, visitors and residents to and from the 2010 Winter Games.
Our system is not only tied to the identity of Metro Vancouver, it covers much of it. TransLink’s service area of 1,800 square kilometres goes from Lions Bay to Maple Ridge and from Grouse Mountain to White Rock.
But what makes a transit system awesome isn’t how memorable or large it is. What makes a system awesome are the people who use it and keep it moving.
Our employees are a testament to the work we do each day. Burney, Marisa, and Cameron are just a few of the people who help move roughly 418,000 people each day.
We run the transit network for our riders. Without our riders, we wouldn’t have a system to move. It's your tax dollars and fares that help us serve the largest transit area in Canada, and we couldn't be prouder to have you on board.
Thank you! You keep us moving.
