Those with a view of Vancouver's False Creek were treated to something a little extra Thursday evening.
The False Creek Ferries fleet took to the waters ahead of the nightly 7 o'clock cheer ritual to perform a "ferry ballet" that served as a celebration of their return to service on Friday, May 22.
The "synchronized boat handling" was captured by onlookers, who were delighted by the parade and show.
Traditionally, the False Creek Ferries do this kind of performance for special summertime events.
"The False Creek Ferry skippers have been performing a choreographed ‘ferry ballet’ show on Canada Day & fireworks nights for well over twenty years. Figure eights, crossovers & starbursts are only a sample of the crews’ acrobatic repertoire," explains their website.
Re-launching after an over two-month pause is certainly a reason to celebrate for the transportation company.

The False Creek Ferries have been out of service since March 17, when they opted to temporarily halt shuttling passengers due to the COVID-19 crisis. On May 19, the ferries announced they would resume service on Friday, May 22 with limited capacity and frequency.

Service to the Maritime Museum remains suspended.
The False Creek Ferries says it will re-evaluate this service schedule once operators have a clearer picture of passenger demand.
