Following a turbulent year of strikes and supply chain disruptions, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA) might soon find more stability under newly announced leadership.
The port authority is keeping things in-house, revealing longtime executive Peter Xotta is now serving as president and CEO as of Dec. 4.
The appointment is the culmination of a search for new leadership after former top leader Robin Silvester announced his departure earlier this year. Victor Pang had been serving as interim president and CEO during the search process.
Xotta previously served at the port authority as vice-president of operations and supply chain.
"It is my honour to lead an incredibly talented and dedicated team at the port authority," Xotta, who’s worked with the organization since 2007, said in a release.
"I have had the privilege of being part of our team's work in growing Canada's trade, facilitating the safe movement of goods through the port, while protecting the environment and bringing benefits to neighbouring communities. I look forward to continued collaboration with all levels of government, Indigenous groups, customers, tenants, transportation partners, labour and communities as we prepare for continued growth in Canadian trade."
Xotta had previously taken the lead on business development and strategic projects as well as the organization's port and supply chain optimization.
The port authority is a government agency that oversees the Port of Vancouver across various locations in the Lower Mainland.
