Canada's largest airlines are offering significant discounts to mark the beginning of spring.
Locals can take advantage of discounts on flights out of Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Abbotsford International Airport (YXX) with Air Canada, WestJet, Porter, and Sunwing.
Check for blackout dates during applicable sale travel windows to avoid booking a non-discounted fare.
Air Canada
Canada's largest airline is offering 15 per cent of all base fares to flights within Canada and the United States for travel between March 21 and Oct. 31 as part of its spring sale.
The sale does not apply to the following Blackout dates in the bookable travel window: May 16-20, June 27-July 1, and July 6-7.
Air Canada's sale applies to select Economy (Basic, Standard, Flex), all Premium Economy and Business Class undiscounted published base fares. It does not apply to codeshare flights (meaning a portion of the ticket may not be operated by another carrier).
Tickets must be booked by March 21 at 8:59 p.m. using the promotional code "Q9Z3VWH1."
Some low-cost options include one-way flights from YVR to Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YZZ) for $137, to Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport for $178, and to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) for $149 (see slide two).
WestJet
WestJet is also offering a spring sale on flights within Canada and to the United States for travel between March 21 and Oct. 31.
The sale does not apply to the following Blackout dates in the bookable travel window: March 22-30, May 16-20, June 27-30, and July 1, 6-7.
WestJet's sale applies to Basic, Econo, and Premium base fares and does not apply to codeshare flights.
Tickets must be booked by March 21 at 10:59 p.m. using the promotional code "7G7N8SY."
Features fares WestJet has highlighted include one-way flights from Vancouver to Calgary for $76, Phoenix, Arizona for $149, Kona, Hawaii for $222, Lihue, Hawaii for $430, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for $175 (see slide three).
Porter
Porter is also offering a spring sale to mark the end of winter, offering up to 20 per cent off its base fares.
To get the highest discount (20%) on Basic, Standard and Navigate fares, travel must depart on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for flights between March 26 and May 15. Travel booked on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays has a 15 per cent discount.
For Flexible, Freedom and Ultimate fares, a 10 per cent discount is applicable for travel on Mondays through Sundays.
For Basic, Standard, and Navigate flights between May 22 and June 27, a 15 per cent discount is applicable on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and a 10 per cent discount is applicable on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
For Flexible, Freedom and Ultimate fares between May 22 and June 27, a 10 per cent discount is applicable Mondays through Sundays.
The discounts are not applicable on March 29, April 1 or from May 16 to 21.

Sunwing Vacations
Sunwing Vacations is offering massive savings on popular vacation packages from the Lower Mainland to popular sun destinations including the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Cuba.
While the company doesn't mention a specific "spring sale," the all-inclusive packages include discounts of just shy of 50 per cent off, with many week-long offers totalling around $1,000.
The packages include accommodation, meals, drinks, entertainment, and transfers to the resort from the airport.
Packages to the Dominican Republic from YVR include a week's stay at the Coral Costa Caribe Resort for $1,065 and the Grand Bavaro Princess for $1,565 (see slide four).
Travellers can find deals from YVR to Mexico for a week's stay at the Riu Jalisco for $1,135, the El Cid Castilla Beach for $1,435, and the Krystal Grand Los Cabos for $1,205 (see slide five).
Sunwing also has several low-cost options to Cuba from YVR, including a week's stay at the Grand Memories Varadero for $1,135, the Iberostar Bella Vista Varadero for $1,185, and the Melia Las Antillas for $1,335 (see slide six).
