Talk about a "natural high": A soaring new attraction on Vancouver Island offers a breathtaking perspective of a lush forest from a 10-storey spiral tower lookout.
Located 35 minutes north of Victoria, the Malahat SkyWalk is set to open to the public on Thursday, July 15 at 10 a.m. The immersive outdoor experiences takes guests on a 600 metre-long elevated walkway through an Arbutus and Douglas Fir forest that leads to the "architecturally-inspiring" tower lookout – the first of its kind in B.C., explains a news release.
The statuesque attraction soars 250 metres above sea level and offers visitors panoramic views of Finlayson Arm, Saanich Inlet, Saanich Peninsula, Gulf Islands, San Juan Islands, Mt. Baker and the Coast Mountain range.
Thrill-seekers may enjoy the breathtaking perspective of the spiralling structure afforded by the adventure net that is partially suspended across the centre of the Spiral Tower. Guests also have the option to take an exhilarating ride down a 20-metre spiral slide after, too.
“As Canadians return to travel this summer, we are so excited to open our doors and welcome guests,” says Ken Bailey, General Manager, Malahat SkyWalk.
“We hope locals and visitors alike include Malahat SkyWalk in their summer travel plans and find a sense of pride in what we’ve created, bringing their family and friends to visit this world-class tourism experience in their own backyard for years to come.”
The Malahat SkyWalk is located on the traditional territory of the Malahat Nation and their Indigenous stories will also be embedded throughout the experience.
