Flights to Maui from Vancouver are the cheapest option to Hawaii from the Lower Mainland this spring.
The Aloha state enjoys warm weather all year round, making it an ideal destination to visit in terms of temperature. But it experiences hotter temperatures and less rain between March and September.
Following a devastating wildfire that claimed nearly 100 lives in 2023, Maui has re-opened to visitors, welcoming tourists to its powdery-soft sand and tropical shores.
But not all trips to the sun-soaked destination offer the same value as ones booked for travel soon.
Heading into the summer, flights to Kahului Airport (OGG) from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) nearly double in cost, with round-trip flights starting at prices between $650 and $900.
Travellers who can leave in April will enjoy return trips for at least half that price. For example, a WestJet flight departing on Monday, April 15 from Vancouver and returning on Sunday, April 21, costs $335 when booked through third-party supplier ly.com (see slide two).
Ly.com's price is lower than other third-party options but is based in China. If you have an issue with the ticket, you may encounter difficulties reaching an English-speaking representative. If you prefer to book with an English-speaking company, there are still multiple options in the $300 range, including Trip.com ($353), BudgetAir ($357), and FlightHub ($371).
This price is about $206 cheaper than usual, with the least expensive flights for similar trips to Maui typically costing between $490 and $950, according to Google Flights (see slide three).
Nonstop, one-way flights to Maui cost even less, starting at $198 on multiple dates throughout April (see slide four). To score the lowest price, these tickets must be booked through a third-party supplier (see slide four).
