Hot deal: You can fly direct from Vancouver to Germany for only $429

Fly from Vancouver to Germany for less.

Direct flights from Vancouver to Germany are a steal thanks to a seasonal service offered through Condor Airlines.

In May, the German leisure airline launched its newest eco-friendly plane, the new Airbus A330neo aircraft, from Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The new aircraft flies five times weekly between Vancouver and the airlines' hub, Frankfurt International Airport (FRA).

Direct, return trips from YVR to FRA cost hundreds of dollar less than they do with other carriers, even on connecting itineraries. One-way tickets are also inexpensive, costing under $500 on several dates in the fall. Once they arrive in Germany, travellers can take cheap flights via budget airlines or ride high-speed trains across the continent.

Travellers can also enjoy direct service between YVR and Munich, Germany. However, return trips cost significantly more, with the cheapest options starting around $1,300 with Lufthansa/Air Canada in October.

Direct flights from Vancouver to Germany for less with Condor Airlines

One-way direct flights are the cheapest from YVR to FRA with Condor in October. For example, a flight departing Vancouver on Wednesday, Oct. 9 costs $429 booked through third-party supplier Gotogate, or $494 with Booking.com. Tickets booked directly with Condor cost significantly more, at $620 (see slides two and three).

Return, direct trips with Condor cost around $1,000 from YVR to FRA during the summer but drop hundreds in the fall.

For instance, a flight departing Vancouver on Wednesday, Oct. 2 and returning from Frankfurt on Wednesday, Oct. 9 costs $755 booked through Gotogate. Tickets only cost slightly more directly through Condor, at $790 (see slides three and four).

Based on Google Flights' data, this price is considered "low" for an economy ticket or about $515 cheaper than usual (see slide five).

Condor's A330neo features 30 seats in business class, 64 seats in premium economy and 216 seats in economy class. Compared to other planes in their fleet, this aircraft has more personal space and larger overhead bins and the latest in-flight entertainment system with 4K touchscreen monitors.
