A Canadian airline has launched a sale on packages to popular sun destinations south of the border and in the Caribbean to combat the January blues.
Air Transat is offering up to 40 per cent discount on all-inclusive packages to popular destinations including Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, and Costa Rica.
The carrier launched its "Come Back Changed" campaign to combat the post-holiday blues and to cover Monday, Jan. 15, which is known as "Blue Monday" for being the most depressing day of the year; tickets must be booked by Jan. 29 for travel by Dec. 15, 2024.
Unfortunately for locals, the sale doesn't include packages that depart from Vancouver International Airport (YVR). However, several low-cost options for flights to airports from Vancouver result in significant savings for travellers.
Departure cities included in Transat's all-inclusive sale include Toronto, Montreal, Hamilton, Quebec, Ottawa, Moncton, London, and Halifax.
For example, a seven-day package to Cayo Paredón, Cuba includes return, direct flights from Toronto Lester B. Pearson (YYZ), transfers, and accommodation at the four-star Grand Aston Cayo Paredon for $839 per person (down from $1,589 per person).
Direct, return flights from YVR to YYZ that line up with the package with Lynx Air are only $173. These flights involve a night before the trip and a night after, but depending on when your all-inclusive package flights leave this may not be necessary. Alternatively, you may want to double your vacation stops and include a short stint in a Canadian city, such as Toronto, Montreal, or Halifax, to sight-see or visit friends and family.
There are several options available at a variety of price points and departure times to work with to suit your budget and what you want to experience during your holiday.
Flights from Vancouver combined with Air Transat sale
Air Transat has also slashed up to 20 per cent off flights to its "South" destinations and to Florida from Toronto, Montreal, and Halifax. While there aren't any YVR departures, these flights are extremely cheap when combined with ones from Vancouver to the applicable departure options.
Tickets start for as little as $259 for a return trip with direct flights from Toronto to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
