"I'm on a boat!"
Dreaming of captaining your own private yacht down the breathtaking B.C. coastline on your next getaway?
NW Explorations, a premier yacht charter and brokerage company based in Sidney, B.C., offers charter trips as well as flotillas to places like Alaska, Desolation Sound and the San Juan Islands.
The company has a fleet of primarily Grand Banks yachts, and trips are typically seven to ten days long. In addition, they offer training courses and workshops for those who need further skills before taking the helm. A maintenance division also performs repairs, upgrades, custom installations and regular maintenance to ensure every yacht is seaworthy.
“The Pacific Northwest offers the quintessential Canadian experience,” says Owner Ross Tennant. “Navigating the region by yacht is an incredible way to witness the beauty this country’s coastline has to offer.”
For those looking to join a flotilla, the company will make an exciting voyage to Desolation Sound this September, which will include the awe-inspiring Princess Louisa Inlet. The two-week trip makes a stop nearly every day, and there are several yachts available to choose from for the journey.
For charters, there are 20 boats available that come in a variety of sizes and prices. For example, Northstream is a stunning 70′ pilothouse yacht, "with a spacious and open feeling in a warm, welcoming, and striking interior layout." There are four cabins and it sleeps six people and two crew. The yacht costs $16,500 USD per week during low season and $22,000 USD per week during high season.
