Metro Vancouverites looking for a respite from the winter rain can take advantage of several low-cost flight options departing in early 2024 with prices starting at under $500 for a return trip from Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

Montego Bay in Jamaica
Jamaica's hypnotically blue waters draw travellers from the Great White North in droves -- but tickets aren't typically affordable for residents of the Lower Mainland.
Return trips from Vancouver typically cost between $860 and $2,350, according to Google Flights.
From cities back east, such as Toronto and Montreal, there are numerous low-cost options for the destination starting from as little as $328 for a nonstop flight from Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
But there are a few options in February that provide jaw-dropping deals under $500 from YVR. For example, a flight that departs on Feb. 3 and makes a couple of stops on the way down before returning via a one-stop itinerary on Feb. 10 costs $493.

The Bahamas
Flights to Nassau, the capital city of the Bahamas, are also cheaper than usual, particularly for travel during Vancouver's winter.

Antigua
Flights to Antigua are not cheap from the Lower Mainland. According to Google Flights, locals must fork out anywhere from $1,850 to $4,250 for a round-trip ticket from YVR.
But a ticket that departs on March 25 and returns on April 2 costs $567 including all taxes and fees.
Saint Lucia
Vancouverites can score tickets for flights to Saint Lucia for around $550 starting in mid-January 2024, which is approximately $347 cheaper than the price, according to Google Flights.
For instance, a flight that departs on Jan.14 and returns on Jan. 29 costs $553 including all taxes and fees.
