Vancouverites can get a ticket home from the "City of Angels" at an absolute steal — and an outbound flight isn't exactly pricey, either.
Discount airline Flair Airlines came under fire recently after nearly 2,000 travellers were stranded in destinations across the country when their flights were cancelled at the eleventh hour following the seizure of four aircraft.
But the ultra-low carrier continues to offer the lowest possible prices on flights visiting Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
A one-way ticket from the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to YVR departing on Thursday, April 13, costs US$49.98, which works out to roughly C$68.61 at the current conversion rate.
While the outbound flight from YVR to LAX isn't quite as cheap, you can still sneak down to Los Angeles for under $100 with all taxes and fees included.
For example, a flight that departs YVR on Wednesday, May 17, costs a total of C$98.99 including all taxes and fees.
You can use the price calendar on Google Flights to find dates that work best with your schedule. There are numerous options throughout April, generally departing on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, that offer this ultra-low-cost option.
When you select a flight, book through Flair directly. While there may be a couple of slightly cheaper options, such as via Gotogate, these third-party suppliers may not be trustworthy. Also, these options are generally only a few dollars cheaper.
You must pay an extra fee for bags with Flair Airlines. You can take a personal item but anything else will cost you, including a piece of carry-on luggage.
