A relatively new low-cost Canadian carrier will offer a direct route from Vancouver to the most visited destination in the United States starting this fall.
Orlando, Florida is home to some of the world's most exciting attractions. In addition to its world-famous theme parks, visitors will also find several popular sports franchises, museums, an impressive space centre, sprawling gardens, and seemingly endless places to shop and dine.
Lynx Air, a budget carrier based in Calgary, will offer a direct route from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Orlando International Airport (MCO) starting Nov.18. The once-weekly service will operate on Saturdays, with the outbound flight departing from Vancouver at 8 a.m. and the return flight from Orlando departing at 5:40 p.m. EST.
The one-way fares for Vancouver start at C$109 while the Orlando ones start at US$108.99.
What Vancouverites can expect on a trip to Orlando, Florida
Orlando saw a whopping 74 million visitors in 2022, making it the most-visited destination in the United States. "The Beautiful City" is home to several popular attractions, including Disney's largest amusement park, which actually consists of four separate "magical theme parks." Universal Studios Orlando is another massive attraction, consisting of three separate parks.
Universal and Disney each have a range of on-site hotels and resorts, ranging from more modest to ultra-luxury accommodations.
Orlando is actually home to over a dozen theme parks, as well as some animal-centric attractions like Seaworld and Gatorland.

The Canadian airline is also offering a sale on all of its flights network-wide, which includes numerous destinations from YVR. The sale runs until July 9 at 10:59 p.m. and offers 20 per cent off base fares on all travel between July 15 and Oct. 31. As such, it won't apply to the new Orlando flight, but it offers significant savings on some popular routes from Vancouver, including Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, and Hamilton.
Prices with the carrier already start low, with one-way tickets to Calgary costing as little as $49.01.
