Vancouverites looking to visit Montreal soon won't find any cheap options through the summer -- but there are ultra-low-cost options available if they are willing to wait a few months.
Montreal is known for its expansive range of restaurants and boutiques to suit every taste and budget, as well as some of the best nightlife in Canada. There are also several festivals held throughout the year, offering endless things to do.
Flair Airlines has historically offered the lowest price on the popular Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) route for several years. Travellers can find direct, one-way flights connecting the two cities that start at a jaw-dropping $59.
And while it still offers the cheapest price if you look over a calendar year, newcomer Lynx Air has given it some competition. Lynx offers the popular route for $89, which, depending on Flair's availability, is often the lowest price.
Unfortunately, prices over the peak summer months, June through August, won't drop below $140, which is three times the price that Flair's lowest prices start at. In late September, however, Lynx offers a respite from soaring summer costs, with flights available starting at $89.
You can use the Google Flights price calendar to select the cheapest date. Flights to Vancouver from Montreal will cost the same price.
From September onward, Lynx offers the lowest prices on the route for 2023, since Flair's cheap deals have all sold out. But if you are looking to take advantage of the ultra-low-cost carrier's cheapest offering, you can book ahead in the 2024 season in January and February.
Once you find one of the dates that work with your schedule, you will be navigated off Google Flights' travel platform and onto Flair Airlines' website. However, the Google Flights' program glitches when you try to use it for 2024. Instead, use the calendar to find a low price and then hop on to Flair's website and book the dates directly.
Ensure that you review the options for the price that you are booking. The lowest price is a 'bare bundle,' which means that it doesn't provide you with any flexibility, extra bags, seat selection, or other additional features.
Flair Airlines addresses travel complaints and cheap YVR flight schedule
As two major low-cost carriers drop out of the market, Canada's third-largest airline has ramped up service on some of its busiest routes.
Flair Airlines held a press conference at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on June 14 to announce that it had increased flights across its network for the summer season by 35 per, year over year. The company has also leased two new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
