Vancouverites have another direct flight option to Toronto starting in the new year, adding to the roaster of airlines providing new services on the popular route.
Starting in February 2023, Porter Airlines will commence daily, non-stop flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on its new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft with flight frequency increasing over time.
The new route will mark the first time in the airline's 16-year history that it provides service to Western Canada. The first flights start on Feb. 7, 2023, with three return trips daily as of March 23, 2023. Prices for round-trip tickets cost $248.
The Toronto-based carrier will also introduce new flights between Toronto Pearson and Ottawa International Airport (YOW), as well as Montreal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL). It has long-standing relationships with both cities, but the services will commence on Feb. 1, 2023, with four return trips daily by the first week of the month. Prices for round-trip tickets cost $225.
Porter says it is "introducing a new economy experience with an even greater commitment to hospitality and sustainability, at highly competitive fares," according to a news release.

The company will continue its signature in-flight experience featuring complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, along with a selection of premium snacks. However, the new aircraft will allow passengers to access free, fast WiFi. On longer flights, they have the option of fresh meals.
There are six fares available, including two new options specifically for the PorterReserve all-inclusive economy experience. These fares are currently available for purchase, with the associated in-flight amenities starting Feb. 1.
Porter will offer a 132-seat, all-economy, two-by-two configuration. It is the only airline with no middle seats on every flight.
The E195-E2 aircraft, the one used on the new route, is the most environmentally-friendly single-aisle aircraft, at 65 per cent quieter and up to 25 per cent cleaner than previous-generation technology. It has the lowest fuel consumption per seat and per trip among 120 to 150-seat aircraft and is the quietest single-aisle jet flying today.
Canada Jetlines, a new Canadian leisure airline, commenced operations out of its travel hub at YYZ on Sept. 22, with its first scheduled route into Calgary International Airport (YYC). Its first flights from YVR commence in December 2022.
