***Update as of Jan. 2, 2024: Prices have increased to $250 for a one-way ticket but there are many tickets available at this price from January through March. Return trips have risen to $680 including all taxes and fees.**
Prices for flights from Vancouver to Paris have been sitting pretty for quite some time...but that doesn't mean the low-cost options are here to stay.
Travellers looking to explore the French capital can take advantage of flights during the winter months that typically cost less than they do during the rest of the year.
But flights from the Lower Mainland cost several hundred dollars less than they have in the last few years, even for "off-season" travel.
It isn't uncommon for trips between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) to start at upwards of $1,000 for a return ticket, even if the flights aren't direct, particularly for travel during peak travel times, such as over the summer and winter holidays.
Google Flights shows numerous round-trip flights that cost around $500 and depart in the winter and spring of 2024.
For example, a WestJet flight that departs from YVR on Feb. 3 and returns from CDG on Feb. 9 costs $460 including all taxes and fees. It includes one stop in Calgary in both directions.

Looking to continue onward to another European destination after you visit the City of Lights (and berets, baguettes, chic attire, and the Eiffel Tower)?
One-way tickets with WestJet start at a jaw-dropping $187 including all taxes. The low-cost price typically involves a couple of stops en route to Paris, but several options cost about $70 to $100 more and only include one stop.
Travellers who prefer nonstop options between the two cities and don't have fixed travel dates in mind may want to wait until the end of summer. Costs on direct flights between the two cities don't begin to drop significantly until the first week of September.
Air France has a flight that departs on Sept.5 and returns on Sept.18 and costs $1,190 including all taxes and fees.
