Condé Nast Traveler has named the top 15 hotels in Western Canada and all but one of them are located in B.C., including nine in Vancouver.
Each year, the luxury travel and lifestyle magazine asks its readers to submit their picks for the best travel experiences and destinations across the globe.
The results from the 2023 Reader's Choice Award Survey include the world's best hotels, cities, resorts, train trips, islands, airports, and more.
The JW Marriott Parq Vancouver was selected by readers as the best accommodation in the city, with a near-perfect score of 97.9.
Located in the vibrant Parq Vancouver entertainment resort, the boutique hotel is an homage to the Douglas fir trees that lined the banks of False Creek for thousands of years. Guests will find plenty of natural furnishings, such as a breathtaking "living" green wall, a couple of scenic terraces with water features, and a sophisticated rooftop lounge.
The JW Marriott Parq was added to The Michelin Guide's hotel selection in 2022.
Top accommodations in Western Canada include several Vancouver hotels
Following the Marriott, the Fairmont Waterfront placed second on the list. With breathtaking, ocean views, the downtown Vancouver hotel offers guests one of the most captivating views in the city. And with an "almost-outrageous number of windows," they will be able to catch all of the harbour activity, from sun up to sun down.
Condé Nast also highlights an interesting feature of the local property: the rooftop garden has 250,000 honey bees that produce the sweet stuff for its drinks and truffles.
Founded in 1984, the luxurious, family-owned Wedgewood Hotel & Spa placed third, wowing guests with everything from high-end touches, including the L’Occitane bath products and Frette towels, bathrobes, and slippers, to its "warm" and attentive staff. It also enjoys a central location in the heart of the city, meaning guests are only steps away from most major landmarks and attractions.
Vancouver's Loden Hotel took the number four spot, with the waterfront Fairmont Pacific Rim rounding out the top five.
Other Vancouver selections included the Opus Vancouver, Shangri-La Vancouver, Rosewood Hotel Georgia, and the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Elsewhere in B.C., the Naramata Inn in the Okanagan was ranked 13th, and three Victoria-area properties (Oak Bay Beach Hotel, Fairmont Empress, and The Magnolia Hotel & Spa) landed on the list. Saltspring Island's Hastings House Country House Hotel ranked 14th.
