Surrey RCMP are warning the public about a dangerous sex offender who is now residing in the community.
In a release, police said Howard Geddes-Skelding poses a high risk to re-offend after being released from BC Corrections in the Lower Mainland on Friday, Aug. 14. He is now living in Surrey.
Mounties said the sex offender is known to approach women while exposing his genitals or masturbating, before sexually assaulting them. He has been convicted of numerous offences including sexual assault, sexual interference, robbery, and possession of a weapon.
The 28-year-old stands at 5’5" and weighs 150 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
Geddes-Skelding must abide by several court-ordered conditions under his probation and release orders. Those include not possessing any weapons and abstaining from the use, possession or consumption of alcohol and drugs. He will also be under house arrest seven days a week, and may not leave without written permission.
The Vancouver Police Department previously issued a public notice earlier this summer that stated Geddes-Skelding would be living in Vancouver.
Surrey RCMP issued the public interest warning under the Privacy Act of Canada and said it is working closely with BC Corrections Community Corrections Division to manage the risk Geddes-Skelding poses to the community. Those measures will include overt checks and monitoring to ensure he is abiding by his conditions, while Geddes-Skelding's failure to comply with the orders will result in his immediate arrest.
Anyone who witnesses any suspicious behaviour is urged to not approach Geddes-Skelding and contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or call 911.
