A fight in a Vancouver park turned deadly when a 15-year-old stabbing victim died of his injures following the altercation.
Vancouver police say a 15-year-old boy was stabbed during a fight between two groups of teens that took place at around 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Almond Park on the city's Dunbar neighbourhood.
During the incident, the 15-year-old was stabbed in the chest by another teen. The victim lost consciousness and collapsed in the park.
“The young victim passed away Sunday afternoon in Children’s Hospital, 24 hours after medical staff attempted life-saving surgery,” says Sergeant Steve Addison, VPD.
“The Vancouver Police Department’s Homicide Unit is now leading the case and will continue gathering evidence to support the ongoing investigation.”
A 14-year-old boy was arrested nearby and has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
